As skin ages, collagen and connective tissue lose their elasticity and the skin 's dermis is weakened. The aging process also affects the metabolic, endocrine and vascular systems, which may result in an inability to efficiently discharge waste products. Lymph drainage and microcirculation are particularly affected. The resulting accumulation of waste products causes alterations in connective tissue and the fat cells which are held in a framework of collagen. Fat cells enlarge, impact blood vessels and cause edema or swelling. The fat cells are displaced upwards into the lower dermis and the fibrous bands, that normally maintain skin tension, become less elastic and trap the displaced cells. The cottage cheese appearance is caused by the restriction of fibrous strands as they pull down the skin at their attachment points. As we age, fat storage becomes a problem and Fat cells swell and become larger. The body's natural lymphatic drainage system becomes compromised so waste products are not cleared as efficiently. Critical factors such as microcirculation and blood flow also play a role. Mesotherapy is now a popular treatment for reducing the appearance of cellulite. While the treatment is very successful, treatments involve a series of injections that may be painful or cause unsightly bruising. Each treatment session lasts about 30 minutes and you will need to complete a series of 8 to 10 sessions to achieve results. Typical benefits are seen after 5 or 6 visits although results obviously depend on the severity of the cellulite condition. What to Expect During Your Visit During your first visit you will meet with one of our specialists to develop a treatment strategy that closely matches your needs. At this time we will also take a detailed medical history and ask you questions about your personal lifestyle. Our specialist will decide on the specific treatment course that you may need and recommended treatment modalities that are the best match for your specific goals. Treatment may involve a single strategy or a variety of treatment options. Combination treatments are often a patient's best opportunity to enhance treatment results. We will always carefully assess your wishes and needs and make recommendations as to the number of visits you will need to schedule. We also may make recommendations about some basic dietary modification strategies that will contribute towards a satisfactory result. If you are interested in Mesotherapy, simply call our receptionist to give you more information or talk to any member of our staff. ![]() Before and After Mesotherapy
